American democracy is in deep trouble. That has been said too often and not often enough. The message grows dull in constant repetition. And the depth of our troubles has not been plumbed, not by a long shot.
So this will be a short post on the eve of counting day. Too much virtual ink has been spilled already about the divisions in the country. The traditional media and, especially, social media deserve an “F” for playing the horse race game too long, too loudly, and too often. I tuned it out a long time ago. No longer tempted by click-bait pseudo reporting. Every source is by now irresponsibly spouting forecasts like fireworks and trying to hard to sound different from the last one.
My next post will come later this week when I have a chance to absorb the damage and recover. Unless it has already been said by so many chatterers that more observations will simply be lost in the social media ether.
Go out and vote, if you have not already! And vote for the Democrat, whoever she or he is.
Gordon, je viens de lire ce texte qui me bouleverse vraiment. Je pense à vous mes amis américains ET démocrates.
