YES, YES and YES! Well said on all topics. I wish Charlie Kirk had asked me "what is a woman". But he didn't and I don't think many people would ask me who really wanted me to know.
As for Platner's speech. It was pitch perfect. He could go places if he survives getting eaten alive by the sanctimonious Republicans. But I think he has what it takes: intelligence, curiosity, strength of character and a kind of fearlessness. If anything might take him down it is the giggling girls who will be swept up in his charms. He can't ever forget that is his weakness. It is the weakness of some men. And it will be on the women as much as it is himself that need to be so aware of the addictive power and pull of celebrity. I hope he knows better. I pray his relationship with his wife has deep strength. He should talk with Obama and ask him how he finds the balance.
As they do with all of us. Indeed. Something that seems so hard for so many to remember.
Thank you, Abby, for your especially thoughtful and timely reflections. And I really appreciate the warning that Jo Lucie gives Platner.
He is definitely a great speaker and inspiring!! Yay!! And you are too.
